And we loved it!

Cool, edgy and sexy it’s not. But Santa Babs is super pretty and very walkable – which was a nice change from car-obsessed LA (especially for Michael, who’s the designated driver until I find my nerve). We were headed north as part of a trip I’m going to be writing up for my old pals at Cosmo and woo, are we grateful we got to check out that part of California. Bookended by the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez mountains, it’s got views at almost every turn. And there’s not an ugly building in sight – thanks (?) to an earthquake in the 1920s, the town was rebuilt in a consistent, Spanish Colonial style that makes it feel like you’re on a film set.

We felt very lucky being treated to a gorgeous, quirky boutique hotel (it even had a happy hour!) called The Canary, and ate at some fancypants restaurants like Jane, Cielito’s (where we had the best Pinot Noir I’ve ever tasted) and Wine Cask. In other words, we totally lived it up. Oh yeah, there was a cupcake and wine tasting, too.

Lots of love,

Mr & Mrs C. xx
